Journal · Getting started

Your first visit: what to expect.

Walking into a new studio can feel like a lot. Here’s everything that happens, from the car park to the end of class, so nothing is a surprise.

Before you come

When you book, you’ll be asked to complete a short health questionnaire. Please fill it in before your first class, and tell us about any injury, pain or medical condition, even if it seems minor.

If you’re pregnant, or have given birth in the last 12 months, let us know when you book.

What to wear and bring

Comfortable clothes you can move in, nothing baggy enough to catch on a spring
Grip socks: bring your own, or buy a pair for £10 at the studio
A water bottle

There isn’t a changing room, so arrive ready to move. There’s space to leave your bag and shoes.

Finding us

We’re at the Hever Suite, Hever Road, Edenbridge TN8 7NP. Parking is free: the car park is on your left as you drive in. Our entrance is to the right of the Hever Suite main door: follow the path towards the trees.

When to arrive

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first class, so we can say hello, show you around and set up your equipment. After that, 5 minutes is plenty.

For your safety, we can’t admit anyone more than 5 minutes after the start, as you’ll have missed the warm-up.

In the class

Classes are 50 minutes and small, so your instructor will know your name and see how you move. They’ll show you how to set the springs and straps, and offer options for each exercise so you can work at the level that suits you that day.

If something doesn’t feel right, say so. Changing an exercise is part of the class, not a sign you’re doing it wrong.

Afterwards

You may feel a slight ache for a day or two after your first class. That’s normal, and most people find it eases as they come back regularly.
